Air Cond Equip Mechanic

Repairs and maintains Heating, Ventilating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning systems independently. Repairs complex systems where malfunctions are difficult to diagnose. Repairs refrigeration systems which incorporate a variety of compressors, refrigerants, and expansion valves and controls. Knowledge of systems whose parameters are monitored and controlled by a computer based system Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of HVAC operations, such as reheat, valve, and dual duct systems, along with various other types, using principles, theories, and trade practices in order to locate and repair faulty equipment quickly. Use printed material found in instruction books, pamphlets, manuals, and handbooks. Also able to read blue prints, schematics, and perspective drawings. Routine maintenance and care of tools and equipment relating to the installation and repair of HVAC and Refrigeration Systems Keeps abreast of new regulations and standards in order to maintain knowledge on proper material usage. Troubleshoot prior to repair, to identify the source of HVAC and Refrigeration Malfunctions and develop corrective action. Other duties as assigned Work Schedule:

Air Cond Equip Mechanic/PD055280 Physical Requirements:
Required to work in confined areas in and around air handlers, pumps, motors, and refrigeration machinery. The work requires moderate to strenuous effort and long periods of walking, climbing, crouching and bending. Physical effort may include squeezing into and crawling through tight spaces for a limited amount of time as well as working on top of and climbing on equipment. Workers frequently carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs. unassisted, occasionally items weighing over 40 lbs. with the assistance of weightlifting equipment and or other workers. Leader role may also include working at a desk for long periods of time; this may include filing, writing and computer data entry. Working Conditions:
Duties will be performed in a modern plant and facility. There is continuous noise from equipment and machinery. May be required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders and scaffolding, stand for extended periods of time, excessive walking and crawling may be required. Expected to work outside in inclement weather when necessary and work on or near high temperature machinery and equipment. Workers are subject to dirty, greasy and wet work environments. Workers are also subject to handling and working around chemical feed systems and may come in contact with water treatment chemicals which could cause burns from caustics and acids. Workers are also subject to cuts, abrasions and burns while working around equipment. Work conditions will also include up to date office furniture and machinery thus insuring the most efficient manor to perform his/her duties. Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
