Nurse - CLC Nurse Manager

The responsibilities and duties of the NM include but are not limited to :
Uses sound clinical judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating nursing care. Provides leadership during emergency situations. Anticipates and recognizes medical/psychiatric emergencies, and initiates and lead others to implement timely actions as appropriate. Demonstrates ability to function effectively as Charge Nurse, Team Leader and/or other leadership roles. Displays leadership in identifying and evaluating issues and implementing processes to improve clinical programs. Initiates and delegates group activities to solve problems or accomplish a specific task. Serves as a role model in the delivery of comprehensive resident/family care and the solution of issues and follows up to ensure appropriate issues, interventions and outcomes are care planned. Serves as a consultant. Offers expertise to peers and other health care professionals regarding referrals of complex residents to appropriate levels of care within the medical center and community. Applies a collaborative team approach in identifying, analyzing and resolving resident flow issues. Promotes continuity of care through collaboration with residents, families and the healthcare team Maintains organizational ethics by assuming a leadership role in addressing ethical issues related to resident care and management of day to day operations. Acts as role model and practices in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner and is sensitive to diversity. Promotes respect for residents' and staffs privacy, and confidentiality of resident/staff information including electronic and print. Competent in principles of ethics, end of life care and use of Advanced Directives. Ensures staff complies with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Ensures and promote staff provides care safely, using cost effective measures. Care provided is based on resident needs, utilizing all staff effectively and allocating resources appropriately. Evaluates and promotes cost-effective use of resources and safety of care delivery. Utilizes creative methods to develop effective staffing schedules. Contributes actively in evaluating clinical products, space, or equipment to assure well informed management decisions. Supports, and negotiates appropriates roles for utilization of staff; and delegates staff responsibilities according to qualifications and/or training. Monitor, develop, and implement action plans to improve unit's budget performance. Participates in interviews/selection of candidates for employment. Implements all nursing activities based on principles of safety, to protect residents, visitors, staff, and self from injury. Facilitates staffs competency by assuming responsibility for providing education (through impromptu teaching, coaching, orientation, and in-service activities) and/or arranging for learning activities and documentation of such educational offering. Shares clinical/professional expertise with others within the facility or community through consultation, presentations, publication or participation in professional organizations. Conducts staff meetings to facilitate communication, disseminate information/lead and promote interdisciplinary interaction and problem solving. Serves as a coach to all staff in career development. Able to advocate for professional standards of practice using organizational and political processes. Serves as a role model for utilization of appropriate, communication and conflict management techniques, effectively guiding and motivating team members. Coordinates management, teaching, consultation, and support to individuals and their families regarding medication, therapeutic nutrition, environment, psychosocial economics, adoptive and rehabilitative needs and/or problems. Assures that all customers are treated in a professional manner with tact, courtesy, respect and empathy. Contributes to the improvement of residents' access to care through initiatives such as outreach to veterans, improvement of timeliness of service. Coordination and continuity in the provision of resident care. Initiates/actively participates on interdisciplinary committee or groups that evaluate practice or health services. Collects and submits data on resident outcomes on the unit and completes reports for network. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. For Applicants enrolled in MSN Bridge or Non-traditional courses of study:
The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Experience:
Three years experience working as a RN in a long term care setting preferred Three years experience working as a RN on an acute Med/Surg unit preferred Charge Nurse Experience preferred American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider required. ANCC certification in Geriatric Nursing or Nursing Administration preferred Previous leadership experience or completion of a documented leadership training course preferred Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
