The Equal Opportunity Specialist 2, SG-23, will be assigned to the Office of Legal Services and will be responsible for implementing, evaluating and monitoring diversity and inclusion management and equal opportunity activities for the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and three hosted agencies, Office of Victim Services (OVS), Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) and State Commission of Correction (SCOC). Duties will include, but are not limited to:
o Serve as the Agency's Diversity and Inclusion Officer and develop a written diversity and inclusion plan consistent with the guidelines developed by the Chief Diversity Officer and Commissioner of Civil Service; o Coordinate implementation of diversity and inclusion and equal opportunity initiatives; o Serve as a member of the soon to be established committee that will be tasked with providing support and guidance to the workforce so that they may use what they learned in implicit bias training to improve the work climate by fostering employee engagement, enhancing professional development and supporting programs designed to better connect our workforce with our mission and the ways in which DCJS contributes to a safer New York State; o Represent the Agency at various meetings, career fairs, conferences and hearings on diversity and inclusion and equal opportunity; o Promote an inclusive, respectful and equitable work environment by assessing organizational culture and barriers to diversity and planning and implementing initiatives to create positive organizational changes conducive to diversity, which may include attending cultural events or planning Agency sponsored cultural events; o Serve as the Designee for Reasonable Accommodations (DRA), reviewing and making determinations on all requests for reasonable and religious accommodations from employees and/or applicants with disabilities or pregnancy-related conditions as required under the American with Disabilities Act and Human Rights Law; o Ensure that potential legal issues are identified and addressed in an effective and timely manner; o Conduct special recruitment efforts for protected class members to increase representation and remove barriers that limit the professional development of protected class members; o Assess all proposed interview questions to ensure they meet the appropriateness standards and do not infringe on any individual's rights or personal privacy; o Review all candidate nomination packages for hiring and promotion to ensure fairness and equity; o Participate in examination planning to ensure that equal opportunity is considered; o Share job postings of non-competitive and exempt positions with various diverse population groups; o Meet with advocacy groups to exchange information regarding equal opportunity policies, procedures and practices; o Act as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator, investigating discrimination complaints from outside sources such as applicants, grantees or vendors and make recommendations to supervisor; o Provide training to Agency staff on equal opportunity issues and reasonable accommodations; o Create and analyze reports including a report on the Agency's employment actions with respect to minorities, women, disabled persons, LGBT individuals, and veterans; o Identify the Agency's achievements, deficiencies, proposed solutions to problems, and the need for external assistance as needed; and o Develop and revise policies, procedures, and guidelines as necessary

Salary Range:
From $74829 to $93491 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Open Competitive:
Seven years of experience in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, or human rights OR an associate's degree and five years of experience; OR a bachelor's degree and three years of experience; OR a J.D. or master's degree and 2 years of the experience. Experience must include working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members. Promotion:
One year of State service in an equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, minority business, employment compliance, human resources, or training position allocated at or above Grade 18. Preferred
Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, the preferred candidate will also have experience with the reasonable accommodation process required under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Human Rights Law; experience in the investigation of ADA and/or discrimination complaints; and experience conducting training to a variety of audiences.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
