This position with The I-STOP (Internet System to Track Over-Prescribing) Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) allows practitioners in New York to check their patient's controlled substance history prior to issuing a new prescription. The I-STOP web based system was developed to allow doctors to view on-line the patient's history on controlled substances to determine abuse and addiction. The law also required pharmacies to upload dispensing prescription data on a near real time basis.
