As part of the LAM team and working collaboratively with other senior members of the team, we are seeking a senior Consultant Relations professional to help cover US-based firms, who will help drive LAM s business development efforts.
Given the outward-facing nature of the role and level of interaction with existing and potential new clients, this is a high-visibility position that carries significant responsibility and potential impact on LAM s ability to both manage and grow its broad investment management business.
Based in New York, the Consultant Relations professional will be responsible for supporting all aspects of LAM s business development and investor relations efforts.
The successful candidate will help to support the firm s fundraising activities for LAM products, including developing relationships with prospective investors, and supporting all new business, fundraising, marketing, and new product development initiatives.
He/she will lead presentations to prospective investors independently and/or with senior LAM distribution team members, in the U.
S.
With a thorough understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape, he/she will effectively advocate for the firm articulating LAM s market position, competitive advantages, and value proposition to existing and prospective investors.
The Consultant Relations professional will assist others on the team or, in some cases, manage all stages of the sales process, including product and market research, organizing target lists of potential new clients, and sales process management.
In addition, he/she will manage the closing, new client onboarding, and the compliance review processes in coordination with the LAM distribution teams and the firm s legal, compliance, accounting, and other groups.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with LAM s internal teams on client relations and sales-related support.
He/she will help respond to requests from existing clients and will arrangeand attend periodic portfolio review meetings.
In addition, he/she will assist with completing their due diligence processes, including spearheading complete and timely responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), and other client, prospect, and consultant requests.
The successful candidate will maintain a detailed knowledge of the investment portfolios in client accounts to facilitate responsiveness to consultant questions and information requests.
He/she will also participate in preparing and reviewing quarterly updates to portfolio review and marketing presentation materials.
The successful candidate will manage multiple special projects relating to client service, marketing, and other such areas as required.
QualificationsA minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and 10-15 years of overall industry experience is required, including much of that experience in an outward-facing role initiating relationships and raising capital from institutional investors with an established investment management firm that has meaningful exposure to alternative asset classes.
Bachelor s degree required, master s degree and/or CFA are preferred; Series 3, 7 and 63 licenses preferred.
Successful experience raising capital from institutional investors, preferably across a range of alternative investment strategies.
Experience working with investment consultants and the DDQ/RFP questionnaire response process.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills and ability to understand and articulate LAM s investment pitch.
Ability to manage multiple special projects relating to client service, marketing, and other such areas as needed, and effectively prioritize a large set of responsibilities and manage projects from start to finish with attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within a broader organization.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make an immediately positive impression.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts, ideas and processes with the presence, maturity and credibility necessary to present effectively to sophisticated institutional investors and internal colleagues.
Ability to support and take ownership of several projects simultaneously and prioritize between projects through communications with senior team members.
Ability to take initiative to move a project forward independent of immediate guidance from senior team members.
Ability to coordinate and work in cooperation with other teams across the broader organization.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior team members.
Ability to operate effectively in a highly-regulated industry, consequently, knowledge of and compliance with detailed compliance policies and procedures and licensing requirements, parameters, and limitations is critical.
The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $300,000.
