Head of Excess Claims North America

New York, NY, USAAs the Head of Excess Claims, Americas, you will play a critical role in leading a team of experienced claim professionals that handle excess claims and support multiple business units within AXA XL that write excess coverage.
You will be a key subject matter expert for AXA XL and will collaborate with other Claims colleagues to implement our strategy on claim activities and best practices.
DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include? Overseeing colleagues and processes related to coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, reserving and resolution of Excess Claims in accordance with established Claim Department guidelines, service standards, and state regulations.
Managing claim audits and ensuring FIC compliance across the team.
Drive analytics and data development formultiple Underwriting business units and Actuarial through identification and reporting on claim trends.
Collaborating withmultiple Underwriting teams in connection with claim issues and trends, review of policy/endorsement language, and marketing and business development activities.
Providing superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and ensuring the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues.
Partnering with other Claim Managers to facilitate internal North American Casualty plans and strategies.
Identifying strategic and tactical needs that can be solved through technology, process improvements, or training.
Maintaining close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit.
Focusing on each team member s individual performance, development and success.
You will report directly to the Head of US Casualty Claims, Americas.
SHARE your talentWe re looking for someone who has the following abilities and skills:
Diversified claims background, ideally with experience in Excess lines of business, including the wholesale / retail brokerage arrangement; advanced years of experience with handling and/or supervising claims; demonstrated experience negotiating and settling complex claim files.
Possesses analytical skills and sound judgment.
Takes initiative and has the ability to work independently.
Proficient knowledge of multi-state insurance coverage law and claim regulations.
High dedication to customer service, including professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.
Management skills:
ability to coach, develop, set expectations, evaluate and hold people accountable for performance.
Serves as a role model setting a high bar for performance, engagement and commitment.
Able to work and lead well under pressure.
Communication skills:
excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills.
Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.

Education:
undergraduate degree required; law degree preferred; possession of applicable state adjuster licenses required.

The pay range for this position is $ 210,000 $ 245,000.
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual s skills, experience and location.
We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues pay.
