Duties Description The Multimedia Production Program Specialist 1 (MPPS 1) position is located within the Public Affairs Bureau of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) located in the Albany Office.
The MPPS 1 reports directly to the Director of Public Information for the agency.
The Public Affairs Bureau reports to the Commissioner of the agency.
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Public Information Officer, the MPPS 1 is responsible for a wide range of media production areas and conducts duties and responsibilities with a good deal of independence.
The MPPS 1 is responsible for the following:
Public Affairs Duties and Tasks:
(50%) Photographs/video records various agency events and functions for submission to news agencies or to place in OPRHP publications:
crops, photoshops, and edits pictures taken to enhance reporting on program functions.
Designs and prepares multimedia material for use in agency collateral, such as publications, digital / website content, social media, press releases, reports, Powerpoint presentations, videos and exhibits.
Collaborates with agency program staff to confirm facts and accuracy of illustrative or visual material released by the PAB to the public.
Plans and develops broad range of multimedia products to support the agency's programs and initiatives in collaboration with other PAB staff and with input from agency program staff (bureau heads and program experts).
Coordinates with OPRHP, Natural Heritage Trust (NHT), and other government agency media specialists as well as with non-governmental entities' media staff to disseminate video releases, pictures of OPRHP sites and activities though the owned media platforms (web, social media accounts, OPRHP Blog, etc.
) as well as through traditional media outlets.
Collaborates with PAB staff in developing and planning public service announcements and videos including writing and editing scripts and selecting imagery and music for the productions.
Assists in audio-video production for internal meetings.
Marketing/Promotion Duties and Tasks:
(50%) Produces and edits audio / visual promotional materials for the agency's properties and programs to be used with the general public as well as to specific targeted audiences and regional communities.
Collaborates with PAB staff to script, story board, and produce media in the appropriate format and on the appropriate platforms to support marketing programs and initiatives identified by program and executive staff.
Collaborates with program staff on marketing and promotional videos, exhibits and presentations requiring graphic design and audio / visual support, etc.
to meet campaign Plans, produces, edits and updates promotional videos for mobile apps and other digital channels.
Photographs park and historic site locations for use in various media productions and applications such as the OPRHP website, digital publications, hard copy publications, newspaper articles, podcasts, social media, exhibits, etc.
Establishes and maintains relationships with other OPRHP bureaus and outside OPRHP marketing entities including other state government agencies and tourism professionals regarding public information media issues and projects.
Additional Comments General Skills and Experience Solid understanding of digital technology and editing software (i.
e.
Avid, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut).
Comfortable being a proactive team member who can communicate clearly via email and in-person regarding project updates and asset needs in order to work collaboratively and adhere to deadlines.
Familiar with share software (i.
e.

Ability to navigate a variety of creative environments, whether that's taking the lead in developing a project's vision, collaborating with multiple voices, or following a colleague's creative direction.
Appetite to continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry's best practices to maximize efficiency.
Demonstrates proficiency in multiple photo/video styles and can present a strong portfolio of work.
