Duties Description Are you interested in working with programs that support the premier state park system in the nation? Wouldn't it be exciting to work with over 200 parks, historic sites and environmental centers that make New York a top destination for recreation and historical tourism? New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has an exciting opportunity available for a Human Resource Specialist 1 or Human Resource Specialist Trainee 1 in our Human Resources Bureau, Personnel Transactions unit.
The duties of the Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 include, but are not limited to:
Leave & Accrual Tracking System (LATS) Administrator.
Liaison between Parks and BSC for day to day LATS.
Resolves employee LATS issues by submitting tickets and required forms to BSC.
Assists employees with LATS timecard issues via troubleshooting and training.
Onboarding and offboarding of employees, including entry of transactions in the Human Resources Info System (HRIS) and delivering new employee orientations.
Orders, tracks, adds/removes access, distributes and collects employee ID badges through the use of multiple OGS Security systems when onboarding and offboarding employees.
Acts as Agency parking coordinator and liaison with OGS Parking Management for parking requests including signing requests for medical parking.
Processes all employment verification requests and employee requests to view personnel files.
Other human resources functions as assigned.
This position reports to the Associate Director of Human Resources 2.
As a Human Resources Specialist Trainee, you would participate in a 2-year traineeship.
At the successful conclusion of your traineeship, you would advance without further examination to Human Resources Specialist 1, Grade 18.

2 Human Resources Specialist 1, SG-18 - $63,266-78,505 Full Level.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
