These positions are eligible for 55b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Office of the Professions (OP) is seeking candidates for five Education Program Assistant 1 positions in the in the Professional Assistance Program.
The Office of the Professions assists the Board of Regents and the Department in the educational review of licensure for applicants in the 50 professions governed under Title 8 of Education Law.
Under the supervision of the Head Clerk, the duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Reply to internal and external correspondence that include both written and telephone inquiries; Assist with the implementation of the E-licensing project; Provide guidance to internal and external customers; Assist other areas of OP and SED, as needed to improve processes and promote improvement of current procedures; Provide guidance and support to clerical staff by using Law, regulation and policy to make decisions on non-routine questions; Participate on various committees and at various meetings involving DPLS issues; Prepare reports using a variety of computer applications; Research and create statistical reports; Supervise work processes of subordinate staff; and Use various computer applications to update data on internal and external websites and databases.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
These will be permanent and contingent-permanent appointments.
For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
Promotions and transfers may change appointees' negotiating unit.
Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
Verification of degree will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.
These positions may be filled as a traineeship.
The starting salaries for these positions are outlined below.
For current New York State employees, salary is based on the candidate's salary at the time of hire.
Candidates appointed at the trainee level will be required to successfully complete the traineeship to advance to the full performance level title and salary.
$41,634 (Trainee 1- NS equated to SG-11) $46,529 (Trainee 2- NS equated to SG-13) $49,202 (Full Performance level SG-14) These positions lead to a maximum salary of $62,806 based on annual performance advances and traineeship advances.
