Qualifications:
This Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture position is temporary and is paid an hourly rate.
An appointment may be made to candidates who meet the minimum qualifications.
This position is not tenure-bearing.
Appointment to this position may be made at one of three levels, depending on your qualifications.

Minimum
Qualifications:
Economic Development Program Specialist Trainee 1 Agriculture, NS=13; $22.
28/hour:
A Bachelors Degree or higher.
Economic Development Program Specialist Trainee 2 Agriculture, NS=14; $23.
56/hour:
A Bachelors Degree or higher AND one year of professional experience in agriculture, natural resource management, regional planning, economic development, manufacturing or food service fields that include business or program management, domestic or international marketing, conducting research, event planning or coordination, or developing or implementing strategies.
Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture, NS=18; $29.
34/hour:
A bachelor's or higher degree AND two years of professional experience in agriculture, economic development, natural resource management, regional planning, manufacturing or food service fields that include business or program management, domestic or international marketing, conducting research, event planning or coordination, or developing or implementing strategies.
Duties Description The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking an Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture to delivers and administers food and agricultural business development programs and administers food and agricultural product marketing and promotion programs.

Division of Agricultural Development:
The Division of Agricultural Development is a dynamic division within the Department of Agriculture and Markets.
This Division works to strengthen the viability and raise consumer awareness of New Yorks food and agricultural industry.
The Division focuses on three major areas to achieve this goal:
promoting the agricultural community; providing education and assistance to businesses; and overseeing farmers markets and other initiatives that bring healthy foods into local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture will be responsible for delivering and administering food and agricultural business development programs.
This includes providing technical assistance and formulating economic development solutions for NYS food producers, processors, agri-businesses, buyers, and customers; reviewing bids and determining potential participants eligibility for various agricultural economic development funding programs; and researching and compiling fiscal, contract, or programmatic data, and creating and maintaining forms, records, and reports on the States agricultural economic development programs.
The position will also be responsible for administering food and agricultural product marketing and promotion programs, which includes administering farm product marketing orders and assisting in the establishment of new farm product marketing orders to market and promote farm products and supporting market and farm production research.
