Duties Description The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is seeking candidates for two Auditor 1 positions in the Office of Audit Services (OAS).
This Office administers both the internal and external audit functions in NYSED and is responsible for overseeing the submission of requisite financial documents from school districts, Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) and other subrecipients of federal awards.
The incumbent of these positions will assist in the conduct of audits primarily related to external educational entities.
Duties of these positions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as staff auditor on an audit team under the supervision of an auditor-in-charge and perform pre-audit surveys; Participate in the development of audit plans and programs by reviewing relevant documents, records, and reports; Participate in interviews of auditee staff to obtain required and necessary information for the conduct of audits; Examine source documents used by auditees to obtain documentation needed to accomplish audit objectives; Prepare written audit findings and reports, and recommend corrective action; Assist in the review of requisite financial documentation submitted by school districts, BOCES, private schools, non-public colleges and universities and other subrecipients of federal awards; and Perform other duties, as assigned.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
These will be contingent permanent or permanent appointments.
For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
Promotions and transfers may change appointees negotiating unit.
Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
Verification of degree/transcripts will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.
These positions will require up to 25% overnight, in-state travel.
These positions may be filled as traineeships.
The starting salaries for these positions are outlined below.
For current New York State employees, salary is based on the candidates salary at the time of hire.
Candidates appointed at the trainee level will be required to successfully complete the traineeship to advance to the full performance level title and salary.
$ 49,202 (Trainee 1- NS equated to SG-14) $ 54,903 (Trainee 2- NS equated to SG-16) $ 61,270 (Full Performance level SG-18)These positions lead to a maximum salary of $77,912 based on annual performance advances and traineeship advances.
