Digital Evidence Technician 1 - 3 Vacancies

Digital Evidence Technicians are responsible for collecting, maintaining, and managing digital multimedia collected from State Police Body Worn Cameras. Typical activities include receiving, cataloging, redacting, and maintaining custody of non-evidentiary and evidentiary audio/visual material. Responsibilities include complying with applicable agency and state policies, procedures, general orders, rules, regulations, and standards as they relate to the availability, confidentiality, and release of information to authorized individuals. DUTIES Operate a computer to enter, retrieve, review and modify digital data by utilizing word processing, database, and other appropriate computer programs. Use leading software to identify, collect, and preserve digital footage obtained from State Police Body Worn Cameras. Analyze digital audio/video recordings for redaction and dissemination to requestors, ensuring that sensitive footage is appropriately redacted in compliance with State Police policies, procedures, rules and regulations as well as Public Records Laws. Ensure that all Body Worn Camera digital data is properly stored and easily retrieved from computer sources, by adhering to agency procedures and protocols. If applicable, have gained experience in testimony as an expert witness and have established his/her credentials as an expert in various courts of record.

Salary Range:
From $38073 to $46886 Annually
Minimum Qualification
An Associate's Degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or Information Technology Systems. OR High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical or criminal justice experience. Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities for:
A working knowledge of federal, state, and county laws ordinances and regulations governing the dissemination of criminal information. A working knowledge of State Police Records Management System standard operating procedures. Knowledge of Public Records Laws and Dissemination of Public Records retention requirements. Ability to communication effectively, orally and in writing. Strong attention to detail. Ability to collect, organize, evaluate digital data and to develop logical conclusions and/or solutions. Ability to apply discretion when handling confidential information. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to learn specialized department software and computer applications. Ability to process public and interagency video record requests. Ability to type 30 words a minute with minimal errors.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
