Investigative Specialist 1 (BC)

The incumbent to this position would be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
o Obtain information concerning application for various type licenses or permits to sell alcoholic beverages. o Interview complainants, witnesses, licensees, employees, and take written statements/affidavits relating to possible violations of the alcoholic beverage control law, rules, and regulations. o Conduct both disclosed and undercover investigations. o Examine records of licensed establishments to ensure compliance with the alcoholic beverage control law. Operational Needs:
Candidates will be required to meet the requirements for Peace Officer status and meet physical/medical standards for these positions. Peace Officer Status:
Investigative Specialists (Beverage Control) are peace officers and must be qualified to hold such office in accordance with state law. As such, they are required to attend NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services sanctioned peace officer training. Employment is dependent on continuous certification as a peace officer.

Salary Range:
From $46529 to $77912 Annually
Minimum Qualification
CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law. 70.4 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year or more of qualifying permanent service at the Grade 11 or above AND possession of a bachelor's degree; AND standing on the Professional Careers Opportunities (PCO) or Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) eligible lists. PCO Candidates:
Individuals with a score of 100 or above on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list are encouraged to apply. Successful completion of a two-year traineeship leads to appointment as an Investigative Specialist 1 (BC), SG-18. GENERAL PUBLIC CANDIDATES:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
