The Office of the New York State Inspector General NYSIG , as established by Executive Law Article 4-A, is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that New York State government, its employees, and those who work with the State meet the highest standards of honesty, accountability, and efficiency. The Office of the New York State Welfare Inspector General OWIG , as established by section 74 of the Executive Law, is responsible for maintaining the integrity of New York State's public assistance programs. The Office of the New York State Workers' Compensation Fraud Inspector General WCFIG , as established by section 136 of the Workers' Compensation Law, is responsible for investigating violations of the laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of the workers' compensation system. The Office of the Gaming Inspector General GIG , as established by the Upstate New York Gaming and Economic Development Act, has the duty to receive and investigate complaints from any source concerning allegations of corruption, fraud, criminal activity, conflicts of interest or abuse in the Gaming Commission. Collectively, the four offices are known as the Offices of the Inspector General OIG . Job Description Under the direction of the Director of Finance and the Deputy Chief of Staff, the Investigative Auditor for Operations acts in a two-part capacity, both as an advanced budget analyst managing overall fiscal activities, and in conjunction with the Internal Controls Officer, as a fiscal and investigative check on OIG operations. The Investigative Auditor for Operations is responsible for authorizing payments; monitoring and recording expenditures; procuring goods and services in furtherance of investigative and operational needs; monitoring OIG's budget to ensure financial stability; and assisting with other finance and operations tasks as needed. The Investigative Auditor for Operations will utilize numerous functions within the NYS Statewide Financial System SFS and will be responsible for various statutory New York State reporting requirements, including those submitted by the Internal Controls Officer. The Investigative Auditor for Operations position is based out of OIG's Upstate Regional Office in Albany, New York. While based in Albany, this position has statewide responsibility and travel may occasionally be required.

Salary Range:
From $61423 to $76218 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Minimum Qualifications This position requires a bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant progressive service experience. Applicants must have a budget and/or audit background, preferably in New York State government, and be extremely proficient in distilling, organizing, and analyzing financial data. Applicants must be highly computer proficient, including the use of all Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, and adept at mastering potentially unfamiliar investigative and budget-related systems. Prior SFS experience is highly preferred. Applicants must display professional conduct including a commitment to confidentiality, as well as have a collegial attitude, sound judgment, and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate is also a skilled multitasker, is proficient in planning, organizing, and balancing daily work with long-term projects, and can adapt to new assignments as required. New York State Residency is Required. This is a Management Confidential position that is appointed by the Inspector General. The salary range for the Investigative Auditor for Operations is $61,423-$76,218 (Grade 18 equivalent).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
