The Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 will be assigned to the agency's Reasonable Accommodation Bureau. Under the general direction of the Equal Opportunity Specialist 2, the Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 conducts assessments and makes recommendations on requests from employees and job applicants for reasonable accommodations pursuant to federal and State laws. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Receive and review applications for reasonable accommodation to ensure completeness and that all necessary documentation has been provided. - Engage in an interactive process with employees and supervisors to determine the accommodation(s) needed and the feasibility of implementing such accommodation(s). - Research State reference materials and websites to assist with determining employees' essential job functions. - Research and explore appropriate accommodations such as assistive technologies, schedule adjustments and alternative work locations. - Communicate with various stakeholders such as Property Supports and Business Offices for requests involving ergonomic equipment, changes in worksite conditions/locations, and to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations. - Prepare analyses and determinations, with recommendations of appropriate accommodations, for supervisor review and approval. - Consult with OPWDD Counsel to ensure ADA compliance and all other legal requirements are met; obtain additional guidance where appropriate. - Prepare correspondence and responses to employees regarding reasonable accommodation determinations in accordance with State policies and procedures. - Assist with the development of internal policies and procedures. - Assist with developing forms and other reference documents as needed.

Salary Range:
From $61423 to $76218 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Six years of experience in equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion or human rights. Qualifying experience includes working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members. An associate's degree may substitute for two years of experience, a bachelor's degree for four years, and a J.D. or master's degree for five years.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
